South End house fire heavily damages Loring Street home. Springfield fire officials now say five people were forced from their home Saturday afternoon, when after fire broke out in the rear of the two-and-a-half-story, wood-framed house at 45 Loring Street.
Firefighters responded to 911 calls at about 4:30 p.m. to find flames coming from the rear and west sides of the single-family home.
Two aerial ladders were used to direct hoses to the rear of the structure from the narrow street in front.
The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad investigated the blaze and determined the cause to be unattended cooking on the stove.
